Paired nabbed in cornfield with help from OPP helicopter

Provincial police have released new information about the ground and aerial pursuit Tuesday that ended near Harriston.

It started early that morning when OPP officers from South Bruce and Huron attempted to stop a stolen vehicle on Concession Road 4 near Teeswater. When the driver refused to stop, OPP Aviation Services was called in to follow the vehicle.

Police later arrested a man and woman after they abandoned the stolen vehicle in a cornfield near Harriston and tried to escape on foot.

24-year-old Damien Dallas Yorke-Thomas of Huron-Kinloss was held for bail and charged with flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, dangerous driving, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, and possession of methamphetamine.

27-year-old Heidi Lynne Diemert of Huron-Kinloss is charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and possession of methamphetamine.

She's scheduled to appear in Criminal court October 9.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
