A Shallow Lake man has been charged after a man on a mobility scooter was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Owen Sound.

The Owen Sound Police Service said on Tuesday around 3pm, the man was using a crosswalk on 16th Street East near 16th Avenue East when he was hit by a vehicle that was exiting a parking lot.

The impact caused the mobility scooter to topple and pinned the man underneath.  He was taken to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a 76-year-old Shallow Lake man, is now charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.
