Roof replacement for Wingham daycare

The replacement of the roof at the daycare centre in Wingham will cost approximately $100,000, but the county is expected to cover most of the cost.

The daycare on William Street has been a longstanding problem according to North Huron Director of Public Works Sean McGhee, but council has put out tenders for a repair and now has a better idea of what it will take to make the improvements.

McGhee admitted the roof, which was installed in 1976, may contain asbestos, and this will have to be factored into the final cost if the material is present.

McGhee also notes Huron County will provide $100,000 towards the project once a final bidder is selected.
