Police ask for public help after theft at local store

Police are asking for public assistance in identifying a male involved in a theft that occurred in the town of St. Marys.

On Sunday just before 10 p.m., the male suspect entered the West End Variety store on Queen Street East. The suspect engaged in a short conversation with the clerk, and then ran from the store carrying a small quantity of cigarettes and lottery tickets.

The suspect is described as an approximately six foot tall Caucasian male with a scruffy goatee. The suspect was seen wearing a black Blue Jays ball cap with a green brim, a black windbreaker-style jacket, gray pants, a black t-shirt, and a pair of white and black shoes. He was observed entering a black compact four-door vehicle.
