Man arrested for trafficking fentanyl in downtown Owen Sound

An Owen Sound man appears in court Wednesday for a bail hearing to face charges that include trafficking in fentanyl.

Plainclothes officers observed a man passing a substance to a woman Tuesday on the public sidewalk in the 700 block of 2nd Avenue East.

Officers arrested the pair a short time later.  Both were allegedly found to be in possession of fentanyl.

The 25-year-old Owen Sound man has been held for a bail hearing and faces charges of trafficking in fentanyl, possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, possession of proceeds obtained by crime, and failing to comply with an officer.

The 27-year-old Owen Sound woman was charged with possession of fentanyl and was released with a court date of October 18.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
