Goderich ready to sell former school property to county

The mayor of Goderich is very happy to see council vote unanimously in favour of moving forward with the sale of land on the former Victoria Public School site to Huron County.

The county had expressed interest in purchasing the land for a new office building as part of its facilities review.

Mayor Kevin Morrison said Goderich councillors felt that piece of land was a good fit for the county and the town.

"We're talking about upwards of 140 employees that would be affected and we certainly don't want to lose the administration of the county to somewhere else," he said.

Morrison said now that the county and the current council agrees the sale would be good for everyone involved, they can move forward with the details.  He points out it will be up to the new council to work out.
