AMDSB supports resolution questioning cancellation of writing sessions

A trustee with the Avon Maitland District School Board has asked the board's Indigenous Education Committee to look into the information contained in a letter from the Simcoe County District School Board.

In the letter, the Simcoe County Board expresses concerns about the province's cancellation of curriculum writing sessions for Indigenous issues.

Trustee Doug Pratley said he agrees with the letter.

"I think, as it says in the letter, it sends a bad message with regard to the Calls to Action for Truth and Reconciliation and the government has sort of cancelled this very suddenly and we've heard nothing since, so I'm concerned... where is this file?" he asked.

Pratley has asked that the matter is turned over to the Avon Maitland's Indigenous Education Committee in the hope they will bring a recommendation back to the board so the board can act on it.
