Huron County changes its meeting structure

Huron County's CAO has introduced a new structure for county council meetings.

Meighan Wark said the current council meeting and two committee of the whole meetings each month will be replaced with two council meetings, starting in October.

Wark said councillors will not necessarily have to make a decision on something the same day it was raised, but there will be an opportunity to bring an item back for discussion at the following meeting after they've had some time to consider the issue.

Wark says the goal of the restructuring is to streamline the meetings.

"It will allow them to focus on the items they want to focus on, without necessarily having to go through things like minutes or spend that much time on process-oriented things, so it will really allow them to get into the more substantive issues at the meetings," said Wark.
