Trucker injured in rollover near Palmerston

A tractor trailer rollover at the northern tip of North Perth sent one man to hospital and forced the closure of a busy intersection for almost eight hours.

The truck rollover occurred shortly before 9 a.m. Monday morning on Perth Road 164 at Perth Line 90, just south of Palmerston.

The driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The trailer was carrying a load of chickens.

The Ministry of Transportation and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency were contacted, and the road was closed until about 5 p.m. to allow for the safe removal of the vehicle and cargo.

An investigation continues into the incident.
