Listowel hosts Perth-Huron United Way noonhour barbecue

The United Way Perth-Huron will officially launch it's 2018-2019 campaign in Listowel Wednesday.

North Perth Manager Helen Dowd said they'll be at Ward and Uptigrove on Main Street East for a barbecue from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. to formally announce their goal.

There is an increase over last year's campaign and that's a reflection of the increased calls for help.

"There are almost 50 organizations now that are relying on United Way across Perth and Huron, helping 32,000 people," said Dowd. "In North Perth, there is 18 supported partners."

The new fundraising goal for the Perth-Huron United Way is $1,446,625.
