Owen Sound protest planned against Section 33

The Owen Sound office of the local MPP will be the scene of a noon-hour protest.

A grassroots group opposed to the province's use of the Notwithstanding Clause is expected to demonstrate outside the office of Bruce-Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker.

Rally organizer Kaitlyn Neath said the Notwithstanding Clause, when implemented, effectively erases sections of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Enacting Section 33 to save a "quick buck" sets a dangerous precedent for future usage.

Neath wants others to join them at noon today to let MPP Bill Walker know that his constituents are not complacent with the erasure of citizen's charter rights and freedoms.
