Major expansion for Hanover Casino

An $18 million renovation is coming to Gateway Casino in Hanover.

The expanded casino will be rebranded as Playtime Casinos Hanover and will feature 300 slots and eight new live table games.

70 new jobs will be created on site.

Gateway's signature restaurant brands Match Eatery & Public House, and 'The Buffet' restaurant will be featured. The new restaurant will offer live entertainment, pay-per-view sporting events, with a restaurant open to all ages.

The expanded casino will occupy the Hanover, Bentinck and Brant Agricultural Society's Carriage Hall, located at the back of the current facility that has sat empty for several years.

Gateway Director of Communications & Public Affairs Rob Mitchell said work on the Carriage Hall building has already begun, and he expects everything to be completed in late December.

Hanover, Mayor Sue Patterson said the destination will offer local jobs and an economic boom to the entire region.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
