HPHA CEO part of accreditation expansion

The CEO of the Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance said he believes expanding the accreditation process that is now used for hospitals throughout Canada could help harmonize the delivery of health care services in other areas.

Andrew Williams is part of the team that surveys for Accreditation Canada and visits hospitals regularly to see how they measure up to national standards.

Williams said they approached the organization to see if they could expand their next survey to include partner groups like long-term care and primary care partners and community organizations.

They have received approval to do that.

"For the next twelve months, we'll work closely with the groups that are part of this and I think it's going to provide a really good opportunity for us to look at how we can standardize care processes across the different sectors," said Williams.
