(BlackburnNews.com file photo by Matt Weverink)A block of homes along Main St. in Listowel had to be evacuated late Monday afternoon because of a suspected gas leak.
The call came in just before 4 p.m. Police, fire and Union Gas responded to the call.
Main Street West between Mitchell Road and Hay Avenue South was temporarily closed while crews investigated. Once the leak was found, crews were able to fix the problem and people were allowed back into their homes shortly after 7 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
The annual Canada Day parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, from Wildwood Park to Kenwick Park.
