Storefront destroyed and ATM stolen in Hillsburgh

A small store in the Wellington County village of Hillsburgh was the subject of a smash and grab early Thursday morning.

Police say a pickup truck smashed through the glass front wall of the store around 1 a.m. and the ATM was forcibly removed from inside.

At least three people were involved; two were seen on camera concealing their identity, and the other was wearing a grey full face helmet similar to a motorcycle helmet.

There were two vehicles involved; a black Lincoln SUV that was parked outside, and a stolen grey GMC pickup that was used to crash into the front window. Both vehicles left the scene heading south on Trafalgar Road.

Property damage to the store and the amount of cash stolen from the ATM has not been estimated.

Police are asking anyone who saw suspicious activity in the Hillsburgh area around 1 a.m. or have dash cam or surveillance cameras to contact Wellington County OPP.
