West Grey takes part in National Tree Day

A number of new trees are being planted in four West Grey communities on Thursday.

The Municipality of West Grey, McLean's Home Hardware of Durham and Tree Canada are taking part in the annual National Tree Day.

Maples and oaks are being planted at sites in Durham, Ayton, Neustadt and Elmwood.

This is the first year that McLean Home Hardware has participated in Home Hardware's annual tree plantings. A total of 37 Home Hardware locations across the country are planting trees this week.

Since 1992, Home Hardware dealers have planted over 25,000 trees in green spaces across Canada.

"We're excited to work together with Tree Canada, West Grey and Home Hardware Stores Limited on this important project," said Doug McLean, owner-operator of McLean Home Hardware. "We have enjoyed great support from the local community, and this is an excellent opportunity to give back in a real and tangible way to thank our customers and community for their support over the years."
