Two new pieces for Huron County Art Bank

Winners have been announced in this year's Huron County Art Show competition.

The first place winner was Gillian Mitchell of Hensall for her work "Having Fun: Wish You Were Here".

Second place went to Anne Laviolette of Bayfield for her painting called "With Eyes To See".

Huron County Museum senior curator Elizabeth French-Gibson said they had 32 artworks in this year's competition and the pieces are now on display in county buildings throughout Huron County.

Each year an independent judge is asked to come in and adjudicate the artwork.

"They select first and second prize and those pieces are purchased, as part of their prize by the county of Huron and they become part of the Huron Art Bank," said French-Gibson. "Then they are put out into different county buildings for everyone to enjoy."
