Local unemployment rate remains lowest in Ontario

The unemployment rate across Perth, Huron, Bruce and Grey counties remains one of the lowest in the province.

In September, the Stratford-to-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region recorded an unemployment rate of 3.1 per cent.     That's down 0.1 percentage points from August.

The provincial unemployment rate also fell 0.1 percentage points to 6.0 per cent.

The Four County Labour Market Planning Board reports the number of goods-producing sector employees increased by 1,400 in the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region. Employment in the services-producing sector decreased by 2,600.

But that decrease was offset by gains in health care and social assistance, finance, insurance, real estate, rental and leasing.
