Steady rainfall skips Bayfield River watershed

A low water advisory for the Bayfield River watershed will remain in place at least until the end of the month.

Water Resources Coordinator Davin Heinbuck said although many areas have had significant rainfall over the last couple of weeks, some areas fell well below where they are expected to be, specifically in the stream flows.

"That area in the north part of our watershed has received significantly less rain, going all the way back to May;   roughly about one-third less than the rest of the watershed's received," he said. "So it's that area that's been hardest hit.    That's really the only area that we have the advisory in place for right now."
