Three dead in Wellington county crash

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fatal collision in Wellington County.

It happened Saturday evening around 8:30 p.m. on Wellington Rd. 44 just south of Wellington Rd. 7, outside of Rockwood. Police say it involved a sedan and a pickup truck.

One passenger, a 35-year-old Fergus man, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 17-year-old male passenger and the 45-year-old female driver, from the same vehicle, were rushed by ambulance to a local hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries and were later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 50-year-old man from Barrie, was not hurt.

The deceased have not been identified and police say they will not be until loved ones have been notified.

The section of Wellington Rd. 44 between Rd. 7 and Indian Trail was closed while investigators completed their work. It has since reopened.

The OPP Technical Collision Investigation team worked on scene, along with Guelph-Wellington EMS and the Guelph-Eramosa Fire Department.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
