Wellington North to consider study on pedestrian safety

A Wellington North councillor is calling for a comprehensive study of pedestrian safety in the municipality.

Because of the growing population and increased traffic in Wellington North, Dan Yake said it’s overdue to identify problem areas and do something about them.

His suggestion came as a local resident pleaded with council to reduce the speed on Sligo Road West in Mount Forest because of safety concerns.

Yake said pedestrian safety cannot take a back seat to other traffic safety issues.

The issue will be discussed at the next meeting of Wellington North council.
