OPP Canine Unit helps make arrest at Port Albert campground

A canine unit was instrumental in helping Huron County OPP officers make an arrest Wednesday evening.

Shortly before 7 p.m., police responded to a campground in Port Albert after reports of a break and enter to one of the trailers in the campground.

Police discovered someone had damaged a door and appeared to be living in the trailer. Police cleared the trailer but the suspect had already fled.

Following a short canine track, police located a man hiding inside another trailer at the campground. He was taken into custody without incident.

Duncan McAuley, 45, from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with two counts of break and enter and one count of failing to comply with a recognizance of bail. He has a scheduled court appearance via video on Friday.
