Grey County Council raise will offset tax changes

Grey County councillors will continue to receive the same net salary, despite federal plans to eliminate a tax exemption for municipal councillors.

County council has approved a $13,500 raise to bring total pay for the warden to $77,364.85, and a $2,500 raise to bring pay for councillors to $21,650.43.

Federal legislation will take effect in January to eliminate the one-third tax-free exemption.

Staff completed a review to find the required increases to bring the current salaries up to the same net salary.
