Huron Women's Shelter gets helping hand

Staff at the Mainstreet Credit Union in Goderich marked Credit Union Day Thursday by cleaning up the yard at the Huron Women's Shelter.

Mainstreet Branch Manager James Lounsbury explains International Credit Union Day is an opportunity for credit unions to give back to their communities.

Their focus is on non-profit organizations so they decided to help the Women's Shelter with some fall yard work.

According to Lounsbury, "We feel it's very important to be able to give back in many ways throughout the year. We get involved in different events and sponsor different things in the community, but this is a really great opportunity to give back on one specific day, on Credit Union Day, and it's just for a few hours in the afternoon and many of our members are very supportive of that."
