Arthur standoff ends this morning

A 44-year old man is in custody after a standoff overnight in Arthur.

Just before midnight, police were called to a George St. home where a man had reportedly brandished a weapon.

He refused to cooperate with officers.

The OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit along with the Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiators were on scene overnight.

Wellington North, Minto Fire and Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services were also at the scene.

After several hours, a man was taken into custody without incident.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending. Police did not release a name.

That part of George St. in Arthur has re-opened.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
