Dutchmen survive late push by Sugar Kings to win in Overtime

Sean Kawalec scored the game winner in overtime as Kitchener edged Elmira 2-1.

Blair Derynck opened the scoring for the Dutchmen just over five minutes into the first period.

Neither team scored after that until the final minute-and-a-half when the Sugar Kings pulled Matt Woroniuk from net for the extra attacker and Zack Cameron scored the equalizer with just 29 seconds left in regulation.

Kitchener and Elmira each have 12 points with the Dutchmen ahead in the GOJHL Midwestern Conference standings with three more games played and one more win.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
