Fire destroys home in Southgate

Fire destroyed a vacant house in Southgate Township Thursday.

The Wellington North Fire Department responded to the fire around 3:45 a.m. Thursday on Southgate Road 12.   The building was engulfed in flames at the time, and they were unable to determine if anyone was in the house.

Grey County OPP officers canvassed the neighbours for information on the property owners.

Just before 10 a.m. police spoke with the property owners who were able to confirm that no one was living in the residence.

Police are not treating the fire as suspicious at this time.   The cause of the blaze remains unknown.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
