Historic blacksmith shop in Kenilworth gets new life

Wellington North has officially taken ownership of the historic Lynes Blacksmith Shop in Kenilworth.

The shop was a bequest to the community from Frank Lynes, the son of the blacksmith.

Until a couple of years ago, the shop lay virtually untouched since being closed in the mid 1950s.

The property has been valued at $195,000.

The chair of the Blacksmith Shop Committee, Kate Rowley says having Wellington North take ownership makes the restoration project secure going forward.
