Strong construction pace continues in Minto and Wellington North

October building statistics in Minto and Wellington North are breaking all-time records.

A report by Minto's Chief Building Official Terry Kuipers shows October generated 19 permits worth almost $4-million.    That same period last year saw 13 permits issued, worth just half-a-million.

Permits so far this year to the end of October in Minto were an unprecedented $32-million compared to $26-million last year.

In the past four years there have been 75 new residential units built in Palmerston, 40 in Harriston, 46 in Clifford and 30 in Minto Township.

In Wellington North, building activity is also running at record highs.

A report by Chief Building Official Darren Jones shows 214 permits worth more than $35-million were issued to the end of September.

That compares with the 12-year average for that period of 184 permits worth $19-million.

Jones predicted that based on current development applications, this year’s totals will continue to climb.
