Owen Sound hosts Bone Fitness Fair

A 'silent thief' will be the subject of a one-day fair in Owen Sound this week.

Bone deterioration is often referred to as the 'silent thief', but there are things you can do to maintain bone health.

The Bone Fitness Fair is Wednesday, November 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Owen Sound Family Health Team on 1st Avenue West in Owen Sound.

There will be educational material on osteoporosis, calcium-rich foods, how to reduce your risk of falling, as well as what classes the Owen Sound Family Health Team provides on these topics.

The Bone Fitness Fair is hosted by the Family Health Team, in partnership with Osteoporosis Canada and the Grey Bruce Health Unit.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with the Grey Bruce Health Unit and Osteoporosis Canada on this great event," says Rona Cobean, R.N., Programs & Services Manager with the Owen Sound Family Health Team.    "Everyone is welcome to attend this fun health fair, to learn more about the health of their bones, and how to maintain that health."
