Outgoing Bluewater Mayor proud of Health Board merger

Bluewater Mayor Tyler Hessel has chaired his last Huron County Board of Health meeting.

Hessel lost his bid for re-election in Bluewater in last month's municipal election.    But he leaves behind a legacy as one of the people that initiated the amalgamation between the Huron Health Unit and the Perth District Health unit.

"I'm sad to say that I won't be there, but at the same time I think it's a great thing to say that I was a part to start and initiate and I commend all of the Health Unit staff for working through the process and they've been doing a great job in working with the consultant."

Hessel says the Perth Unit and the Huron County Health Unit have been working cooperatively and he looks forward to seeing the final stage being done.

The amalgamation is scheduled to be completed by January 1st, 2020.
