Heritage property designation sparks action from Goderich council

Goderich council has approved several motions in the hopes of clarifying confusion over a heritage property designation.

C.A.O. Larry McCabe says there was a misunderstanding between the Heritage Committee and the property owners, noting "the committee recommended that a property be designated, and the owners did not want to proceed with the designation and council has requested staff to prepare the bylaws for de-designation of the property."

The second motion instructed staff to work with the Heritage Committee to create a document that would have to be signed by the property owner in the future, before a property could be designated a heritage property.
