OPP charge woman in connection with Grey County death

Grey County OPP have laid charges in relation to a death last summer in Owen Sound.

On July 18, 2017, Grey County OPP and Grey County EMS responded to a Grey Highlands address regarding a female in medical distress undergoing opioid withdrawal treatment. Danielle Barham, 23, of the Township of Georgian Bluffs died in the Owen Sound Hospital on July 20, 2017.

As a result of a lengthy investigation, 41-year-old Jessica Morrison was arrested at Toronto Pearson International Airport earlier this week.

She is now charged with criminal negligence causing death, trafficking a controlled substance and selling a prescription drug recklessly.     The accused was released on a recognizance Thursday with a subsequent court appearance of December 13 in Owen Sound.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
