Sewer backup damages lower level of Walkerton hospital

The lab at the Walkerton hospital is closed to outpatients for the next few days for flood restoration.

There was a sewer backup on the lower level of the building Monday, causing flooding to the lab, ER and diagnostic imaging departments.

The backup has been cleared and flooding has receded, however, there is a substantial amount of cleanup and damage repair to be completed.

The laboratory departments at the Chesley, Durham and Kincardine sites of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre will remain open for outpatient collections throughout the week.

The Walkerton lab is scheduled to reopen on Friday, however, patients are asked to call ahead to make sure the department has reopened.
