OPP identify man killed in collision east of Stratford

Police have identified a man killed in a collision between a pickup and a car earlier this week on Highway 8 east of Stratford.

The deceased has been identified as 44-year-old David Torbet of Stratford.

Torbet was driving a sedan that collided with a pick up on Tuesday at about 8 a.m.

Torbet was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup truck, a 68-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. OPP, fire, and paramedic services all responded to the scene.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
