Teen driver charged in Owen Sound crash

Owen Sound police say an 18-year-old man is charged following a collision Saturday night.

It happened around 6 p.m. at the intersection of 2nd Ave. W. and 8th St. W. A 2006 Pontiac was driving southbound on 2nd Ave. W. when it turned directly in front of another 2006 Pontiac that was traveling on 8th St. W. Police, Owen Sound Fire and EMS also responded to the scene, according to Sgt. J. Brent Baker.

There were only minor injuries reported in the incident, and those attending the Festival of Northern Lights were not affected.

The teen driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act, though it was not disclosed what the charges were.

The intersection was shut down while the vehicles were removed and the investigation was completed.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
