SIU terminates probe into Grey Highlands death

The Special Investigations Unit has terminated its probe into the death of a man in Grey Highlands.

The OPP were called to a hunting camp near Irish Lake on November 9, at 7:30 p.m. for a report of a domestic dispute.

Officers spoke with one of the individuals, a 52-year-old man, and then left.

However, OPP were again called to the camp early the next morning for a report of a deceased man.  Based on the information received, the 52-year-old man was located in his truck with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The SIU found nothing to suggest that the police were directly or indirectly responsible or involved in the man’s death.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
