High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Southgate wants to meet with the provincial minister of health to discuss health needs in Dundalk.
On the agenda will be issues such as the need for more doctors to serve the growing population, and the need for Southgate to switch from the Waterloo-Wellington LHIN to the Southwest LHIN.
Southgate is located in Grey County and there is sometimes confusion stemming from it being part of the Waterloo-Wellington LHIN. The LHIN's administer provincial health money.
Southgate is hoping for a meeting with the minister of health at the upcoming ROMA convention.
