100 blood donors needed in Mount Forest on January 1

Blood donors in Mount Forest are being asked to start off the new year by rolling up their sleeves.

Since blood products have a limited shelf life, the demand for blood never stops. Cancer patients, accident victims, and people with blood disorders rely on blood transfusions every day, even though donations tend to decrease during the holiday season.

100 blood donations are needed at the Mount Forest Donor Centre by January 1 to ensure local patients receive the blood they need.

The clinic at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex runs from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Canadian Blood Services is also asking Flesherton donors to help ensure patients’ needs are met over the Christmas season.  58 blood units are needed at the Flesherton Community Centre on December 24. That donor clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

To book an appointment, locate a donor centre, or check your eligibility, download the GiveBlood app available on iOS or Android, visit www.blood.ca, or call 1-888-2-DONATE.
