Fentanyl seized in drug trafficking arrest in Saugeen Shores

Saugeen Shores police took a large quantity of drugs off the street, including so-called "purple fentanyl." That drug is suspected to have caused several overdoses in Bruce and Grey County.

An officer on patrol made an arrest early Sunday in Port Elgin while investigating an unrelated incident at a convenience store.

A man fled the store but was captured after a short foot chase.

A search of the man revealed large quantities of a wide variety of drugs and Canadian currency.

A 42-year-old Kitchener man has been charged with resisting arrest, and possession for the purpose of trafficking Hydromorphone, Oxycodone, Heroin, Fentanyl, Cocaine, Cocaine (Crack), and Crystal Methamphetamine

The man has been remanded into custody pending a bail hearing in Walkerton.
