Geriatric clinics opening in Goderich, Clinton and Wingham hospitals

Huron County residents will now have access to full-time geriatric care.

Dr. Alexandrea Peel has returned to the area to open up geriatric clinics in the hospitals in Goderich, Wingham and Clinton.  She grew up just outside Wingham.

Goderich-based Physician Recruiter Gwen Devereaux said the population in this area is older than the provincial average, but people are also staying healthier, longer.

"Dr. Peel's ultimate goal is to have a wonderful geriatric program across Grey, Bruce and Huron-Perth, so we're thrilled, for the first time since I've been involved in health care, that we've ever had a geriatrician on full-time basis in our area," said Devereaux
