Huron County group shares $500K lottery win

Some Huron County residents are celebrating a big lottery win.

11 people will share a $500,000 Maxmillions prize from the October 19 Lotto Max Draw.

58-year-old Ruth Feeney went to buy the monthly group ticket and checked the ticket from the month before.

The bookkeeper said it was hard to believe, and she went back to share the news with her coworkers. They checked it again together, and Feeney starting doing the money dance.

The married mother of three and grandmother of four plans on doing some travelling and paying off bills with her share of the windfall.

Other winners were Anthony Hoornaert of Dublin, Daniel Bennewies of Seaforth, David Austin of Egmondville, Gerald Armstrong of Egmondville, James Dalrymple of Egmondville, Jason Cook of Clinton, Norman McCabe of Seaforth, Randy Lammerant of Seaforth, Thomas Nigh of Seaforth, and Timothy Vannatto of Walton.

The winning ticket was purchased at GT Mini Mart on Main Street in Seaforth.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
