Labour shortage continues in Wellington North

Wellington North council approved an expansion for automotive part manufacturer Musashi, in the village of Arthur.

But at the same time, council heard that many other industries in Wellington North are looking for workers.

Mayor Andy Lennox recently met with six of Wellington North’s largest employers who said collectively they are in immediate need of about 70 employees.

Lennox said it is not a problem that Wellington North can solve on its own. It requires the help of other levels of government as well as the employers to come up with creative ideas.

Lennox added affordable housing is a key to attracting new workers.
