Public support demonstrated in Wellington North for cannabis sales

Wellington North council received some help from the public regarding the possible retail sale of cannabis.

An online survey by the municipality received 623 responses.

61 per cent - or 379 people - were in favour of retail sales in Wellington North.  216 were opposed, and 28 were undecided.

The same survey of Downtown Revitalization Committee members rendered similar results, but with just 29 percent opposed.

Wellington North council will make its decision on January 14.

The township's neighbours to the south in Centre Wellington voted 4-3 in favour of opting out of allowing cannabis retail stores.
