Car crashes into building while in reverse

Employees at Owen Sound's Winexpert luckily escaped injury when a car was accidentally driven through their storefront.

The Owen Sound Police Service said officers responded to the store at 689 10th St. W on Tuesday around 10:20 a.m., and found a 2008 Chrysler 300 more than three-quarters of the way inside the store.  Police said the 76-year-old female driver was backing into a parking space when her foot slipped, and the vehicle accelerated the vehicle into the building.

The building was extensively damaged.

Once the vehicle was pulled from inside the store, police said, "it was able to be driven away from the scene" but it is unknown if the 76-year-old woman was permitted to get behind the wheel.

It is also unknown if any charges were laid as a result of the crash.
