Patriots defeat Hawks despite big effort from Hawks' Owen Hahn

Chris Ferri struck twice in the third, including an empty netter with 41 seconds left as Mount Forest topped Mitchell 5-2.

Braeden Brudett put the Hawks on the board just 24 seconds into the game but Max Davis would tie it for the Patriots at 7:30 of the opening frame. Thomas Haffner scored on the power play at 13:57 to give the Patriots a 2-1 lead heading into the second.

Mitchell got the scoring started again with a goal by Tyson Hall at 4:29. Jack Birkett answered for the Hawks just over three minutes later.

David Lobsinger earned the win with 24 saves. Owen Hahn put of a valiant fight in the crease for the Hawks, stopping 49 of the 53 shots he faced.

Klayton Hoelscher set up three of the Patriots goals and now has 33 points on the season, putting him in a tie for seventh among Pollock Division scoring leaders.

The Patriots still trail the division leading Wingham Ironmen by five points in the standings with a 19-8-1-0 record.
