UPDATE: Woman dies after being pulled from Guelph Lake

A 62-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries after falling through the ice on Guelph Lake.

Margaret "Molly" Kurvink of Guelph was pronounced dead in hospital. A 62-year-old Guelph man, the spouse of the deceased, remains in stable condition.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the OPP responded to a report of two people who had fallen through the ice. The pair were ice boating when the vessel went through the ice.

Guelph Fire Department and Guelph-Wellington Paramedics Service were able to rescue the pair, who were trapped about 200 feet from shore.  Both were rushed to hospital at that time.

An OPP investigation is ongoing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
