Owen Sound Auxiliary Police help stock food bank shelves

The Owen Sound Salvation Army food bank is stocked up for Christmas thanks to the Owen Sound Police Service Auxiliary Unit.

Auxiliary members set up at Zehrs, Food Basics, and Metro for three consecutive weekends to collect donations from shoppers.

Cash donations exceeded $3,600, and the total weight of food from the three locations was over 7,400 pounds, which is 1,500 more than last year.

All of the cash and food has been turned over to the Salvation Army food bank to offer a 'hand-up' this holiday season.

The Auxiliary Police Unit is made up of citizens who volunteer their time on police patrol, at community events and assist with family fun events in the summer.
