Owen Sound Police Service hires new chief

The Owen Sound Police Services Board has appointed Craig Ambrose as the new chief of police.

Ambrose, who is currently an inspector with the Waterloo Regional Police Service, will replace Bill Sornberger, who is retiring.

Police Board Chairperson Garth Pierce said he's pleased with the selection, calling him a perfect fit.

Ambrose will begin his new role on January 21.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
