Shoreline erosion project approved for Bayfield-area

The mayor of the Municipality of Bluewater is hoping a project to reduce erosion along the shoreline at Pioneer Park in Bayfield can get underway in February.

Paul Klopp said an agreement has been reached between the municipality, the Pioneer Park Association and a private landowner who asked to be involved.

The project involves placing armour stone materials and improvements at the lower lake bank at the west end of Bayfield Terrace.

Klopp said that will stabilize the bank for the municipality's portion, which is the road portion, but it will also help reduce erosion for Pioneer Park and the private landowner.

The municipality's share of the cost is estimated at a little over $102,000. Tenders have been sent out.
